A fast payout is only a good thing when gambling stays fun and under control. This page covers how to keep it that way, and where to get free help if it stops being fun.
If you need help now
Call the National Problem Gambling Helpline at 1-800-GAMBLER (free, confidential, 24/7), text 800GAM, or visit ncpgambling.org. For support groups, see Gamblers Anonymous.
Recognising the warning signs
- Gambling with money you need for bills, rent or essentials
- Chasing losses, trying to win back what you have lost
- Betting more than you planned, or more often than you intended
- Hiding your gambling from family or friends
- Feeling anxious, restless or irritable when you are not gambling
- Borrowing money or selling things to fund play
If any of these feel familiar, it is worth pausing and reaching out. None of them are unusual, and help is available without judgement.
Tools that help you stay in control
Every reputable casino provides responsible-gambling controls in your account settings. Use them before you need them:
- Deposit limits - cap how much you can add over a day, week or month.
- Loss and wager limits - set a ceiling on what you can lose or stake.
- Session reminders - get alerts about how long you have been playing.
- Cooling-off periods - lock yourself out for a set time.
- Self-exclusion - block access for months or permanently.
A word on fast withdrawals
Fast payouts are convenient, but the same speed that gets your winnings out quickly can make it easy to redeposit on impulse. Once you decide to withdraw, let the payout go through rather than reversing it. Treat gambling as entertainment with a fixed budget, never as a way to make money.
